LOYTEC and NEC Electronics (Europe) GmbH Join Forces in Building Automation Print
Tuesday, 14 October 2003
Düsseldorf, Germany and Vienna, Austria, October 14 2003 – The LOYTEC electronics GmbH with its headquarter in Vienna, Austria and NEC Electronics (Europe) GmbH with its headquarter in Düsseldorf, Germany announced the joint development of a high performance low cost micro controller for networked devices in building automation.

Based on NEC Electronic’s SoCLite+ architecture a system on chip (SoC) solution for products in the area of ANSI/EIA-709, ANSI/EIA-852, and BACnet networks is beeing developed under the name LC3k. Powered by the ARM7TDMI-S™ 32-bit RISC CPU core of SoCLite+, LC3k offers enough performance to meet today’s and future demands in a networked building. A 10/100BaseT Ethernet port and the integrated LOYTEC L-Chip provide connectivity in Ethernet and EIA-709 networks. LC3k further integrates an LCD controller for TFT and STN displays, 2 UARTs, SSI, and freely programmable digital I/O pins.

The development of LC3k is dedicated to the requirements of the end user. LOYTEC offers a state of the art integrated development environment for LC3k based on the open tool platform Eclipse (www.eclipse.org). LC3k uses the open real-time multi-tasking operating system RTEMS (www.rtems.org). The ORION protocol stack together with the L-CNIP library from LOYTEC guarantee the highest performance in ANSI/EIA-709 and ANSI/EIA-852 networks. The BSD TCP/IP protocol stack integrated into RTEMS and the open source WEB server from goahead (www.goahead.com) allow perfect communication over the Ethernet network.

Hans-Jörg Schweinzer, president of LOYTEC is convinced: “The technology partnership with NEC Electronics brings us into a position to develop an optimized platform for intelligent networked devices for the building automation market. With a steady worldwide market growth of 6%, building automation is our target market for LC3k. Buildings become more intelligent and demand powerful solutions. With LCk3 we take an important step in the right direction.”

Dr. Ulrich Giese, General Manager for the Semiconductor & Display Business Unit for NEC Electronics Europe receives, in the close cooperation with LOYTEC electronics, the confirmation that the SoCLite+ concept is the optimum solution for the demanding markets of industrial and building automation.

Light & Building 2002 press release: LOYTEC presents L-Switch suite (Booth 9.2 B91). Print
Tuesday, 26 March 2002
Contact: Info at Light & Building Fair

LOYTEC L-Switch - segmentation of EIA-709 Networks made easy: High-tech in a small form factor makes the L-Switch the ideal solution for structured wiring in EIA-709 networks. From small to large size networks - the L-Switch is the perfect component right from the planning phase all the way to the successful operation of your network infrastructure.

5 Ports replace up to 4 traditional Routers: New possibilities arise from the unique design feature of the L-Switch. With its 5 network ports it can directly connect 4 FT-10 channels and still leave one port available to connect to a high-speed backbone channel. In larger networks this high-speed TP-1250 backbone channel can be used to connect multiple L-Switches. The communication between the different network segments happens completely transparent to the nodes on the different segments and the operator of the network.

Plug and Play - We keep what we promise: Unpack, connect, power-on - done. As easy as that is the installation of the L-Switch. No complicated configuration is required to put the L-Switch into operation. Immediately after power-up the L-Switch starts learning the network topology and assigns the nodes and groups to the different network ports. Highly efficient routing algorithms guarantee the optimum data packet routing in the network.

Network Diagnostics - Your Lifeline to Success: Continuous monitoring of the health condition of your entire network happens as a background task besides routing data packets between ports. Each network port has a multi-color LED that indicates valuable status information about the network. Flashing green means network activity, flashing or steady red means trouble on this network segment, where trouble can be a traffic overload condition, noise on the network cable, etc.

"LSD" stands for LOYTEC System Diagnostics and is the perfect tool to manage EIA-709 networks. This tool collects all statistics information from all L-Switches in the entire network from any point in the network and presents the gathered information in an easy to use form to the installer and the operator of the network. Health monitoring around the clock - our contribution to the success of your network.
