In Memoriam: Al Mouton

It is in great sadness that we have to inform you about the death of our colleague and friend Al Mouton. Al died in a tragic car accident on April 23rd, 2008. He was a great supporter of the industry with a seemingly endless source of energy to promote open systems. We all miss his enthusiasm, his brilliance for this and many other subject fields, his emotional discussions, his crisp opinions, and his countless hours to support LOYTEC products in the US and Canada. All of you who knew Al could probably add to this list for several pages. We can only say, we miss you Al and we want to thank you for doing such a great job of promoting LOYTEC products and supporting our customers. We have lost a dear friend.

LOYTEC as the host together with its cooperation partners Newron System (France) und Cimetrics (USA) took positive stock of the 1st Buildings under ControlTM Symposium. Over 120 developers, engineers, sales / marketing representatives, and consultants found their way into the Palais Eschenbach at the heart of Vienna. Between September 18th and 20th the latest news about new developments in core technologies, user interfaces, network infrastructure products, and network analysis for building management systems were presented to the participants. Most European suppliers of building management systems, international system integrators, and system providers did attend.

The 'Buildings under Control™’ Symposium will be held from 18th to 20th of September 2007 in Vienna. At the symposium, state-of-the-art information regarding technologies, product developments and implementation of management functions on embedded platforms will be presented.

L-OPC ist a new LOYTEC product. The L-OPC is an embedded OPC-Server according to the OPC XML/DA standard.

A series of new LOYTEC products allows the user to configure the network variable interface of the devices according to the project requirements. The new application note AN009E Changable Device Interface in LNS describes the rules to follow when using changing interfaces together with LNS.

The application note AN007E Network Infrastructure White Paper has been updated.

The production of L-VIS (LVIS-3ECTR) has been terminated. The device will be replaced by a new L-VIS coming at the end of Q4/2005. It will have a touch screen (color) and an extended functionality. Please refer to the Product Change Notification.

LOYTEC participates in the research project eCEDAC – Evolution Control Environment for Distributed Automation Components. Adaptive Manufacturing is identified by the European High-Level Group (ManuFuture2004 – supported by the European Commission) as one of four major drivers of industrial technologies in ‘Manufacturing 2020’. New technologies for efficient engineering of safe, fault-tolerant and down-timeless systems and their adaptations are preconditions for this vision of future manufacturing. Without such solutions, engineering adaptations of the Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) will by far exceed the costs of engineering the initial system and the reuse of equipment becomes inefficient.

The ORION Firmware Loader Plugin is a brand new plugin for LNS 3.x based network management applicatons. The plugin allows to upgrade the firmware of L-Proxy, L-Control, and L-Core devices over the EIA-709 network from within the network management tool.

The new L-Control^XP is a generic EIA-709/EIA-852 node for high performance controller applications in EIA-709 and EIA-852 networks. Based on LOYTEC's LC3020 controller, L-Control^XP provides two TP/FT-10 ports and one 100base-T Ethernet port.

The L-Core^XP module L-COREXP-F8R16B16 is LOYTEC's next generation platform for controller nodes. L-Core^XP is based on the LC3020 chip.
